Law enforcement agencies of Belarus opened a criminal case in connection with "hijacking" the virtual tank in the game World of Tanks from the Belarusian citizen, ITAR-TASS reported.
"A criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 349 of the Criminal Code of Belarus - "unauthorized access to computer information" was opened. In Brest region this is the third "stealing" of a virtual tank for the last two years, but the criminal case was opened for the first time" - said the employee of the Department of Information and Public Relations of DIA of Brest Regional Executive Committee, Irina Blokhina to the correspondent of ITAR-TASS.
According to her, a 30-year-old resident of Prujan (Brest region), who found that he could not get into his account in the popular game World of Tanks, approached the police. The man explained that on buying (modernization) of his "IS-8 tank" he spent a lot of effort not only in the virtual combat, but pretty penny - more than one million two hundred thousand Belarussian rubles (about $130).
The representative of DIA informed that the employees of the department for solving crimes in high-tech sphere contacted the developers of the game. They found that the "tank" is continuing to "fight", however it is not run in Prujan, but in Moscow region of Russia. The account of the "hijacker" was blocked and now the "tank" expects to be returned to the rightful owner, said Irina Blokhina.
